How to choose your wrap size?

What is your wrap base size?

Woven wraps usually come in several sizes varying in length from approximately 3 to 6 metres.

Each size is a specific length which can be used for different carries. One of the most popular and often the first carry that people start with so called front wrap cross carry (FWCC), because it is fantastic for newborns (but also great for older babies). The smallest wrap which lets you tie a FWCC is called your base size

The vast majority of people can use the wrap size 6 to make FWCC and several other carries. That's why if you are a beginner and of average build you can most probaly start with wrap size 6. If you are either big or small, you can consider going up or down in wrap size. See below how to find out your wrap base size based on your T-shirt size:

T-shirt size  Wrap base size (length in m)
XXS 4 (3.6m)
XS/S 5 (4.2m)
S/M/L/XL 6 (4.6m)
XL/XXL 7 (5.2m)
XXXL 8 (6m)

If you are somewhere in between the sizes, it is always a good idea to get the wrap a little bit longer rather than shorter as it will let you make more carries. For example if you are a bigger S - start with wrap size 6. The specific wrap length depends on the size of the person who is going to carry and the type of carry.

What carries can you make with each wrap size?

A wrap one size bigger than your base size is called base +1. Similarly, the one one size smaller is called base -1. You can up and down by a few sizes to match the wrap lenght with your needs. A longer wrap will generally let you make a carry that 'eats' more fabric or has a fancy finish, while the shorter one will help you get rid of the long fabric tails.
